We're always talking to great engineers

No open roles right now. But we hire from conversations we start early, so if you build software that survives real users, introduce yourself before a role opens, not after it is filled.

Who we are

A senior bench, not a body shop

Robust Devs is a small, senior-only engineering team. We build the production software around AI products for funded startups in marketing, healthtech, and fintech: the data pipelines, auth, billing, observability, and infrastructure that turn a demo into something a company can sell. We have shipped 180+ products since 2019, and that volume is the point. It is how you learn what breaks at scale before it breaks on a client budget.

Most of our interesting work is ordinary hard software engineering: schema design that survives 100,000 users, integrations that do not corrupt data in production, and systems you can hand back to a client without a runbook full of caveats. If you find the plumbing more interesting than the prompt, you will fit here.

We are UK-registered with the engineering team based in Lahore, and we run founder-led. The person who scopes the work is accountable for it, which means small teams, short chains of command, and direct contact with the founders whose product you are building.

Quiet office workspace with desks and laptops

The day to day

Protected deep work, shipped every week

Two-week sprints, a weekly demo, and async standups that respect focus time. The cadence exists so the work ships, not so anyone can watch you type.

How we work

What working here looks like

01

Senior-only, no juniors on the client clock

Everyone here owns their work end to end: architecture, implementation, review, and the production consequences. Nobody learns on a client budget, which means we hire slowly and expect a lot.

02

Small teams, real ownership

Projects run with a tight team and a tech lead who reports to the client directly. You make real architectural calls, not just close tickets someone else specced, and you see them land in production.

03

Remote-first, cadence over surveillance

We measure output, not hours in a chair: two-week sprints, a weekly demo, and a daily async standup. Deep-work time is protected. We care that the work ships and holds up, not that you were online at 9am sharp.

About the team

What we look for

Judgement first, stack second

We hire for production instincts more than for a specific framework. The engineers who thrive here tend to share these traits.

  • Depth in at least one part of the modern web stack: TypeScript and React on the front, Node or a comparable backend, and real SQL and schema-design instincts. Breadth is a bonus; depth is the requirement.
  • A production mindset. You think about error states, observability, migrations, and the on-call consequences of a design before you write it, not after it pages someone.
  • Comfort turning AI capabilities into durable software: wiring an LLM or an inference service into a system that handles auth, billing, rate limits, and bad inputs without falling over.
  • Written communication you can trust. Remote and async only works when your PRs, design notes, and standups are clear enough that nobody has to schedule a call to decode them.
  • Judgement about what not to build. We say no to scope more often than yes, and we want engineers who push back on gold-plating and ship the thing that matters.

Open roles

No open roles right now

These are the three archetypes we return to when a project needs another senior, not live vacancies. If one describes you, that is a reason to get in touch now rather than later.

  • 01Senior full-stack engineerOwns features across the stack, React and Next on the front with Node and a real database behind it, and is comfortable being accountable for a slice of a client product in production.
  • 02Backend / platform engineerLives in the data pipelines, APIs, queues, and infrastructure that make an AI product reliable: schema design, migrations, observability, and the CI/CD that ships it safely.
  • 03AI integration engineerTurns model calls into production systems, handling prompts, retries, evals, cost and latency, and the guardrails that keep an LLM usable when real users feed it real garbage.

How to apply

Show us something you shipped

There is no application portal and no automated screener to game. Send a short note about what you have built and a link to the work: a repo, a live product, a case study. The more it shows how you think about production, the better.

Hiring questions, answered straight

What to expect from a team that hires slowly and says so.

  • Not at this exact moment. We hire slowly and only when a specific team needs a specific person, but we are happy to talk to strong engineers and keep a warm shortlist. When the right project lands, that shortlist is who we reach out to first.

Think you'd fit?

We keep a warm shortlist and reach out first when a project needs another senior. Start the conversation now, not after the role is filled.
